The current government has made ‘levelling up’ central to its manifesto.
Levelling up regions across the country (all four nations) has been the focus of several policies of this Government. In his very first speech as Prime Minister, Boris Johnson made clear his intention of boosting economic performance and reducing inequalities of ‘left behind communities’.
The SVP can play a role in ensuring the voices and experience of people in so-called ‘left behind communities’ are heard when new services and policies are developed. The SVP’s wide reach puts it in a unique position of being able to provide insight into the issues faced by communities in more deprived parts of the country.
