St Vincent's Centre, Southend-on-Sea is a Community Support Project of the St Vincent de Paul Society (England and Wales) which supports vulnerable people in the local area.
We offer a friendly, non judgemental and unique “wrap around” service tailored to the needs of the individual. We provide foodbank services, hot meals, in and out reach support, household items and clothing, counselling, dementia support and a befriending service. We also signpost our service users to specialist organisations that we partner with in the local community.
We were honoured to welcome Julie Fosh, High Sheriff of Essex, and her husband Paul to St Vincent’s Centre Southend on the 4th September 2025.
During her visit, Julie toured our trauma-informed centre, taking time to speak with staff, volunteers, and guests. A particularly moving moment came when she reconnected with someone she had supported years ago in education—now thriving in a completely transformed life thanks to their journey with us. 💙
Julie also had the pleasure of presenting certificates to our dedicated volunteers—Selina, Sharyn, and Stewart—in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the community. 👏
Reflecting on her visit, Julie shared how inspired she was by the success stories she heard and how strongly she could see our vision of Help, Hope and Opportunity brought to life.
It was a truly special day for everyone at St Vincent’s, and a wonderful recognition of the life-changing work that happens here every day. 🌟
