Join our amazing team of volunteers!

We are always on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers to join the St Vincent's Southend team. Whatever your skills and experience or however much time you can give, there is a role for you. We are looking for like minded people who promote the values and vision of the centre. We provide ongoing support and training as well as a warm welcome.

Our current volunteering opportunities
  • Meet and greet: Accepting donations from the public, sorting and shelving
  • Foodbank and food services: Restocking, labelling and packing food parcels. Collecting food from supermarkets and delivering hot meals to people in need in the community
  • Day volunteers: Supporting the daily running and upkeep of our centre, assisting with our Vinnie’s Pick and Mix 
  • Outreach and Inreach Support: Supporting people on the street and in their homes (These roles require specialist training and a DBS)
  • Dementia support and befriending services: Visiting people and chatting on the phone (DBS required)
  • Household/ Fresh Start: Collecting household donations from public and deliver to users
  • Kindness Kitchens: Providing support around the kitchen of the night
  • Clothing support: Preparing clothing bags for people in need
  • Allotment: Supporting our service users who are working on our new allotment project
  • Furniture collection and delivery: People confident in driving a van to drop off and pick up furniture 
  • eBay selling: Listing and selling items on our national eBay shop

Whether packing food parcels, supporting with the daily upkeep of the busy centre, or working directly with the people we help through our outreach programme, our volunteers make a huge difference to the community.

To become a volunteer, all you need is a willingness to learn new things and flexibility to adapt to our growing centre. You can choose how much time you give and we'll provide ongoing training and support.
