Who can attend camp?

Boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 15 can attend. Your child does not have to be Catholic. We have specific camps for different areas of the East Midlands on different weeks and we request that you send your child on the week that most corresponds to them.

Where is the camp?

Located on the outskirts of Mablethorpe town centre in Lincolnshire on Seaholme Road we have a purpose-built dormitory that sleeps up to 48 children, alongside our dining room with dedicated kitchen facilities and a separate toilet and shower block. Separate staff accommodation is also provided. We have a central playing field, large enough for most sporting activities and we have pool tables and a newly extended veranda area with games equipment such as table football, hockey and basketball for use during free times.

What should my child bring to camp?

We strongly advise that best clothes are not brought to camp. It is primarily an outdoor holiday where clothes are likely to get dirty. Items of clothing are also sometimes lost because they have no names marked on them. We recommend that your child brings swimming gear and a towel in a plastic bag as we go paddling in the sea and most camps make at least one visit to a leisure centre. At least four sets of tops and bottoms, including sweatshirts or the like for colder days, enough underwear and socks, a waterproof coat and shoes or boots (including a change of footwear), shorts, towels and washing gear. Sunglasses and a sun hat are highly recommended if your child has them.

A sleeping bag or blanket and a pillow are required for sleeping in the dormitory. If there is any problem with this, please consult the individual who gave you the application form. Any medication should be clearly labelled and handed to one of the helpers on arrival at the pick up points. If it’s appropriate, we will take care of it and see it is used regularly.

Please note we can’t accept medication out of its original packaging and/or without the correct dispensing label attached, as this can be dangerous (this includes creams for eczema etc.)

Cuddly toys may be taken to camp if required, however we advise not to bring a favourite one as it may become lost or damaged.

What items cannot be brought to camp?

Any dangerous items, cigarettes, matches and any expensive belongings such as personal stereos iPads or CD players. High-heeled shoes, or clothes which will be ruined if they get dirty or wet, should not be brought. Mobile phones or devices with a built in camera are not allowed (any that are brought will be kept in a safe place during the week). 

Can I give my child pocket money?

All food and drink is provided (this includes a packed lunch on days out). Arrangements can be made for special diets if we are notified. If children want to buy sweets or 2 souvenir, we recommend no more than £3-5 per day. This pocket money must be handed in to a helper at the collection point and will be “banked” by the helpers for the children to draw out on a daily basis.

Please do not send excessive amounts of pocket money as it will not be needed.

How do I keep in touch with my child while they are away?

We do not advise you to phone them during their stay, as your child will be out or busy most of the time, a call may result in Children missing out on an activity.

We will ALWAYS call you in case of an emergency. If you do not hear from us then you should assume that your child is happy and having a fantastic time at Camp. We discourage regular phone contact as it is usually the main cause of homesickness. We are very experienced in dealing with this issue and if a child is distressed we will make sure that they contact you.

In an emergency, please call the campsite on the contact number provided. Please be aware that, since we are off site for most of the day, your call may be answered by a member of our caretaking or kitchen staff who are unlikely be able to help you immediately. They will of course pass on your message and the appropriate person will call you back at the earliest opportunity.

There will be daily updates on the events of that day sent out via text message, so parents can check what has been going on. Details will be made available when your child is accepted for the camp. There will also be opportunities for your child to phone home should they feel the need to.

How will my child get to camp?

Transport to and from the Camp has been arranged and is included in the cost. Pick up points are located in Leicester, Corby, Derby and Nottingham depending upon which week your child attends. Further details of exact travel times and pick up points will be sent out with your confirmation of your booking.

Alternatively, you can provide your own transport.

My child has food allergies. Can the Camp provide a special diet?

The Camp is able to cater for restricted diets. Please give full details of any allergies, intolerances etc. on the application form.

Are there any camp rules?

The rules of camp have been made as a result of many years of experience and they are there for the benefit of all the children. Our main aim is that EVERY CHILD remains completely safe and happy for the entire week.

So we ask the children to do these two simple things:

1. Make sure you have a great week
2. Make sure everyone else has a great week.

Our rules exist to allow us to meet this aim. The Camp Leader has the authority to send home any child who commits a serious breach of these rules. This is not something we would like to do, so please ensure you explain the rules to your child before they attend camp.

1. Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated.
2. All activities are carried out under the supervision of our staff. No child is permitted to leave camp at any time without supervision.
3. All dormitories must be tidied each morning and silence must be observed at night.
4. Camp property and equipment must be respected – not misused or damaged.
5. We have a great relationship with the locals and count many of them as good friends. The reputation we have is maintained by the good behaviour of the children.

* Litter must not be dropped

We ask that all children show respect for the staff, the locals and each other. If they do this, they will help contribute to a fantastic atmosphere which will make the week so much more enjoyable for everyone involved.
