Join us in stamping out poverty by swapping steps for sponsors!

Every year, our wider community come together to support our centre and its services through a sponsored walk. It's always an incredible success, raising funds to ensure our integral supportive provisions can continue for those in need in our local community.

This year, our sponsored walk will take place on Sunday 18th September 2022. This event wouldn't be possible without participants so if you're able, we encourage everyone and anyone to get moving and take some steps of positive change.

For more information, check out the FAQ below or download the files on this page.

Sponsored Walk FAQ
How far is the route?

There is a choice of two routes, either 5½ miles or 2½ miles; both start and finish at St Joseph’s Church Hall and have midway stops for refreshments and toilet breaks.

The short walk is wheelchair and pushchair friendly, with activities for children along the way.

The long walk has a stone stile, some uneven ground, woodland and, at one section, a narrow footpath beside the River Wharfe.

Can I bring my child/dog?

The more the merrior! You can fundraise together as a group, or as indivduals, it's up to you! We ask that any child under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult, and there will be points within each walk in which dogs must remain on leash - these spots will be signposted on the maps given out on the day.

Where does the sponsorship money go?

All sponsorship from this event will go directly to the St Vincent de Paul Society’s community support project in Leeds, providing help and support for families living in poverty, including debt advice, education, immigration support, emergency provision and more. If you're taking part in your own walk, we request that it occurs as close to the date of our walk as possible and funds are still sent within the deadline of 1st November 2022.
