Through our Twinnage links, we have supported local SVP groups in Sudan for decades. Sudan has suffered a devastating civil war that has left behind a trail of destruction of unimaginable proportions and human misery. Thousands of people who fled South Sudan into Sudan during the conflict now face daily discrimination and live in makeshift camps with no fresh water supply, little food and an uncertain future.
Thanks to the SVP however, the Sudanese people have been able to maintain their dignity by receiving assistance ranging from food and water to medical assistance.
Support our work in Sudan
Over 35,000 people in Khartoum, Sudan gained access to clean drinking water last year thanks to the generous response to our Sudan and South Sudan Appeal.
As Sudan is affected by frequent drought and lacks sustainable water supplies in many areas, this is a vital service to the local community. By donating to the appeal, you can help us maintain the SVP water tanker for future use and ensure residents have access to a reliable source of fresh water.
The SVP runs baby feeding centres in the internally displaced people’s camps. Young children once at risk of being lured into joining a militia by the promise of food, now receive nutritious meals in a safe environment and will not be robbed of their childhood.
SVP medical clinics in the IDP camps provide 6,500 free medical consultations and vital medicine each year. They are staffed by volunteer doctors and nurses on their days off.
An SVP water tanker provides over 35,000 people a day with a reliable supply of fresh water.

Your donation, of whatever value, to our Sudan and South Sudan appeal will help the SVP continue its life-saving work.
