Walk a meaningful mile for charity

Walkers taking part in The Big Mile.

From mid-June to July, people young and old will join together in 15 towns and cities around the country for ‘The Big Mile’, a joint initiative by the SVP and CSAN to raise awareness of poverty in England and Wales.

Deliberately limited to one mile to make it as inclusive as possible, money raised through the event will help a range of charities including the SVP, CSAN, Catholic Children’s Society, St Joseph’s Hospice, Caritas Salford, and DePaul UK.

Elizabeth Palmer, CEO of the SVP, said: “Walking can be a very enjoyable and beneficial activity, and joining the Big Mile makes it meaningful as well. Walkers will be supporting the SVP which has been helping to alleviate poverty in England and Wales since 1844. This walk is an opportunity for people to join with the SVP to so something practical and enjoyable to step out against poverty.”
