Inspiring 11 year old boy brings a little comfort to the homeless this winter

Finn Collins, 11, from Whitstable has come up with a great idea to help the homeless cope with the cold this winter. While looking through SVP cold weather packs - known as Vinnie Packs – that his mother was helping to distribute to homeless people, he noticed that something was missing.

“I had really dry lips at the time and it was making me really uncomfortable” he said. “I thought about homeless people who must get really sore lips as they are outside all the time and decided it would be nice if the Vinnie Packs had lip balms in them.”

Finn decided he would like to raise some money to help include lip balms in the packs. He launched a JustGiving page, fundraising at school and at his local church, and even did an interview on his local radio station to tell people about his idea.

In total, Finn managed to raise £250, but it didn’t stop there; when DDD the manufacturers of lip balm Blistex heard about Finn’s achievement, they decided to donate 6000 units of lip care products to further support his efforts.
