Information for parents and carers

If you have any queries that are not answered below, please get in touch at liverpoolsvpcamp@svp.org.uk.

Who can attend camp?

Boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 13 can attend. Your child does not have to be Catholic, but they must be nominated by the SVP or one of our partner schools.

Where is the camp?

Bryntysilio Outdoor Education Centre
Llangollen
Denbighshire

What should my child bring?

We recommend that your child brings swimming gear and a towel in a plastic bag as we go swimming on the way to Camp. At least two sets of tops and bottoms, including sweatshirts or the like for colder days, enough underwear and socks, a waterproof coat and shoes or boots (including a change of footwear), shorts, towels and washing gear.

If there is any problem with this, please consult the individual who gave you the application form. Any medication should be clearly labelled and shown to one of the helpers on arrival at All Saints. If it’s appropriate, we will take care of it and see it is used regularly.

Please note we can’t accept medication out of its original packaging and/or without the correct dispensing label attached, as this can be dangerous (this includes creams for eczema etc.)

What is not allowed on camp?

Any dangerous items, cigarettes, matches and any expensive belongings such as personal stereos iPads or CD players. High-heeled shoes, or clothes which will be ruined if they get dirty or wet, should not be brought. Mobile phones are not allowed (any that are brought will be kept in a safe place during the week).

Can I give my child pocket money?

All food and drink is provided (this includes a packed lunch on the first day). Arrangements can be made for special diets if we are notified. If children want to buy sweets or a souvenir, we recommend no more than £15. This pocket money must be handed in at All Saints and will be “banked” by the helpers for the children to draw out on a daily basis.

How do I keep in touch with my child while they are away?

We do not advise you to phone them during their stay, as your child will be out or busy most of the time and there is no mobile reception on site. In an emergency, please call Bryntysilio Outdoor Education Centre [LL20 8BS] on 01978 860454. If we are out, a member of site staff will take a message and we'll sort out with you any action that needs to be taken.

If we have any emergencies, we will let you know immediately. Every adult involved with this camp has had a DBS [CRB] check made. Sadly this means that visitors are not allowed.

There will be daily Twitter updates on the events of that day, so parents can check what has been going on. Details will be made available when your child is accepted for the camp.
