Legacy Giving

Gifts left in Wills make a huge difference to our work and in recent times such support has been vital in enabling us to respond to increased demand from people seeking our help. By leaving a gift to the SVP in your Will you can help us support people facing poverty and disadvantage long in to the future.

Whether from a former member, someone who has sought our help in the past or from well-wishers who value our work, we are very grateful to everyone who leaves a gift to the Society in their will. Every gift makes a difference, as we rely on legacies to carry out our work.

Jean’s story

Some years after retiring as a university languages teacher and following the death of her husband, Jean needed help getting around and began to experience loneliness. Over 10 years she built a relationship with members of the local SVP Conference who visited her, supported her and helped her go on a much needed holiday to Lourdes. When she passed away, she remembered the SVP in her will in thanks for the friendship and help she received. Many people have since benefited from her kind gift and the Conference has so far been able to organise and cover the costs of two much appreciated trips for older people to the seaside and Lourdes.

Can you help us give hope to those in distress by making a place in your Will for the SVP?

A gift to the SVP in your Will enables us to continue to offer friendship and dispel loneliness for people like Jean. It can also help us meet the increasing demand for our services. For example, by sending a disadvantaged child on his/her first ever holiday, help families under pressure buy household goods or furniture, invest in much needed community shops and support centres in deprived communities and befriend people who are experiencing loneliness.

Making a gift in your will is simple

Making a gift in your Will may seem like a difficult decision. However, with the help of the right advice it is simple.

We strongly suggest you seek legal advice regarding Will writing, although we do not give legal advice we are happy to provide any information needed to make the process easier.

In partnership with Your Catholic Legacy (YCL) SVP provides a free Will-writing service exclusively for members, through this service the full cost of your Will will be covered by our Society. You can either request the writing of a single or mirror Will by a qualified local solicitor in your local area. There is no obligation to leave a legacy to any charity, however this is a great opportunity to benefit the future work of the SVP if you would like to do so.

Click here to enter your details and a registration package will be sent to your address within seven working days. The pack explains how the service operates and will provide details of between two and six law firms near you who are participating in the service.
