In response to the Coronavirus pandemic… care for each other. There are so many ways in which we are to do this: being attentive to the needs of our neighbour, especially the elderly and vulnerable; contributing to our local food banks; volunteering for charitable initiatives and organisations; simply keeping in touch by all the means open to us.

How to help the SVP during the Covid-19 crisis
Ever since 1833, the SVP has been dedicated to tackling poverty, disadvantage and social isolation by providing direct practical assistance to anyone in need. Today, with new challenges facing us during the coronavirus outbreak, we have received enquiries from people who would like to offer their time and volunteer in their local communities.
We are currently recruiting volunteers for our new 'Knock and drop' service delivering emergency food parcels and medicine to isolated or housebound people across England and Wales.
In order to volunteer for our 'Knock and drop' service, you must meet the criteria below:
- I am well and have no symptoms like a cough and/or high temperature; no one in my household is experiencing any of these symptoms
- I have no long-term health condition that makes me vulnerable to the coronavirus
- I am aged between 18 and 69
- I am not pregnant
- I can provide a reference from an existing SVP member, staff or my Conference Parish Priest
If you meet the eligibility critera and are interested in helping out with this service, apply to find out if your local SVP group is recruiting temporary volunteers.
If you do not meet the eligibility criteria for our 'Knock and drop' service, but you or a group would still like to help the SVP during the coronavirus crisis, please get in touch with us below:
