At 92 years of age Tucker, who lost his wife a few years ago now lives alone. Living in a one room flat, Tucker says he rarely speaks to anyone, and gets lonely by himself. Ever since the SVP opened Tower House Centre for older people in Brighton however, Tucker has something to look forward to.
Every Thursday SVP members, all volunteers, collect Tucker from his flat and drive him - together with other guests - to Tower House. Here he is able to chat with new friends, enjoy a hot meal, and attend a music class. Tucker says Tower House is now the highlight of his week. "It's my first heaven", he reports. "Everyone is so kind and friendly, it's a little taste of what heaven must be like."
