Grant lost his job and the flat that came with it and found himself on the street. Culminations of heightened mental health decline and a loss of self-belief came to a head in 2020 just as Covid lockdown came into effect.
For the next year he moved from night shelter to soup kitchen, from sofa to sofa with the odd stint in the obligatory public toilet or park bench.
But this is where St Vincent’s stepped in and started to give Grant hope. Suddenly four to six month waiting lists for counselling became one to two weeks, days sitting around trying to find something to fill the void became days spent at the centre, and his park bench and the odd night on a sofa became keys to his own flat.
Now Grant can make a new start from ground level and begin his journey onwards and upwards.
