Vincentian Millenium Partnership opportunity to promote "Systemic Change"
Join the VMP in raising awareness about systemic change - bookings now being taken...
Dear Members of the Vincentian Family,
A special Vincentian opportunity is just around the corner. We are very privileged to welcome Fr Robert Maloney CM to Great Britain. As a former Superior General he has a wide knowledge of and great love for the Vincentian Family. Since 2006, at the request of Fr Gregory Gay CM, he has been chairing a commission for promoting systemic change throughout the Vincentian world. Participating with him on this commission is Sr Ellen Flynn DC, Chief Executive at the PASSAGE centre for homeless people in central London.
On 13th June 2008 both Fr Bob and Sr Ellen are offering an opportunity to the Vincentian Family in Great Britain to come and share in this work. The aims of the day are:
- To become informed about the work of the Commission for Promoting Systemic Change (CPSC)
- To revisit and revitalise the way we live out our Vincentian spirit in the services that we provide.
- To touch and rejoice in the internationality of our Vincentian Family
- To celebrate a special Vincentian moment together
The phrase "systemic change" can be off-putting. Quite simply, it means attacking the root causes of poverty, both for the individual people we serve and within the systems that create poverty, so that our works and services are "transformative" as understood by the Gospel and our Vincent ian tradition. As you probably know the CPSC is already posting "tasters" about systemic change on the international Vincentian Family website www.famvin.org
The conference is being held in Westminster Cathedral Hall, Ambrosden Avenue, London SW1P 1QH which lies behind the cathedral. The day will begin with coffee at 10.30am and end with a cup of tea at 3.30pm. A simple buffet lunch will also be provided. The day is being sponsored by the Daughters of Charity so there is no charge. However, it is extremely important that you fill in the booking slip as soon as possible. Numbers are limited to 200 and tickets are being issued on a first come first served basis. Please do come to what promises to be a very special moment for us as Vincentians.
For further details please download this information leaflet.
Yours in St Vincent de Paul,
Sr Maureen Tinkler DC
