Vincentian Volunteers 2008-2009 programme now open to applicants!

"The work with the refugees was a very real and sobering experience of poverty.By the time I was leaving, I felt so sad I couldn't hold back my tears I loved the children so much."

Looking for a positive way to spend a gap year?

The Vincentian Volunteers programme is now open to applicants, providing a positive opportunity for young people to undertake interesting charity work for one year, living in community with fellow volunteers. This programme gives young people (18-30 approx.) the opportunity of a meaningful one year volunteering experience in a Christian context. Volunteers live together for a year, sharing faith and community while working in charitable projects. These included such projects as daycentres, hostels for homeless people, special schools for the visually impaired and nurseries for families who otherwise could not afford childcare but this is not an exhaustive list. Volunteers consistently describe their volunteer year as instructive, fulfilling and fun.

History of the Programme

The Volunteer Programme has been running for the past 15 years here in the UK. In that time, over 200 young people have been volunteers. They have served a large number of disadvantaged people and, it is hoped, have made positive differences. Many of the Volunteers have gone on to work in caring professions.

How much will it cost?

All accommodation and living expenses are provided for Volunteers participating in the programme. The volunteer year starts in September and applicants must be available for the week commencing 1st September for the introductory week.
