SVP 2011 National Meeting & Mass of Rededication - 7 May

The 2011 annual National Meeting and Mass of Rededication and exhibition will take place on the 7th May. The theme for this year's meeting is 'Supporting Older People in our Local Community'. We will be addressing the issues older people face today and what the SVP should due to respond to these issues. The programme for this year's meeting will include:

  • Presentations and open forum discussion with guest speakers to include Sonia Mangan, Age UK, and Ben
Bano, former Director, Older People Services, East Kent Mental Health Partnership Trust
  • ‘The SVP in Action Today’: an overview by SVP CEO Elizabeth Palmer
  • ‘The Way Ahead’: a presentation by National President Mike Worthington
  • Mass of Rededication celebrated by Fr David Ryder
  • Exhibition of SVP Projects and Special Works
  • Sale of SVP resources
  • Networking with fellow SVP members

The meeting and exhibition will be held at All Saints' Catholic High School, Haslingden Road, Rawtenstall, Lancashire BB4 6SJ. The SVP exhibition will give members the opportunity to learn about the many activities undertaken by the SVP and to meet those involved in various aspects of SVP work.

At the Mass, members from across England and Wales will have the opportunity to renew their commitment to the Society's primary purpose of service to the poor and to join in the celebration of the Eucharist. This is a national event and all members are warmly invited to attend. Friends and relations are more than welcome to come along as well and join in our celebration.

National Meetings provide SVP members with the opportunity to gather together, to grow in Vincentian Spirituality, to share experiences, to learn from one another and to discuss issues with members of the National Board. Conferences are encouraged to send at least one member to this important annual meeting of the Society.

Any member wishing to attend should contact National Office on 020 7407 4644 and speak to Vicki Felstein. There is no charge for this event, but members are asked to make a contribution of £5 on the day to cover costs. Lunch will not be provided but teas and coffees will be available.
