2008 Lourdes Pilgrimage - bookings now being taken!
This year, the 150th anniversary of the Apparitions, the Trustees
of the Society in England & Wales have agreed that we should
have a National Pilgrimage to Lourdes from Friday 10th October
to Friday 17th October.
All Conferences and Councils are invited to apply for places on the
pilgrimage, which is open to those we visit and to our own membership.
We will fly from Stansted to Lourdes and stay at Hosanna House, Bartres,
just outside Lourdes and enjoying magnificent views of the Pyrenees.
Our Conferences and Councils assist both the sick and their carers to
Lourdes each year, a fact recognised by the Society having a fund
which is open to applications for help in funding a pilgrimage.
Hosanna House is owned by HCPT – the Pilgrimage Trust and is fully
equipped for people with disabilities. Hosanna House offers full board
accommodation in 2 and 3 bedded rooms each with en-suite facilities,
and has its own chapel for use by the resident pilgrims. The programme
for the week will be tailored to meet the needs of the group, but will
include at least one excursion into the mountains (weather permitting)
as well as the religious activities.
The aim is to give the sick and the carers an unforgettable spiritual experience as well as ‘a holiday of a lifetime’ for those who cannot go away by themselves. We aim to have at least 3 nurses and a priest in the group and applications from Vincentians who have a medical background will be welcomed.
How much will this cost?
Including one excursion, the cost will be £580 per pilgrim and the only ‘extra’ will be the transport to and from Stansted. When we know the
needs of the group, we can look into whether a coach can be booked to
pick people up, maybe in the Midlands, but that will be dependent on
who wants to go. The cost will include insurance arranged through HCPT.
Come drink at the spring and wash yourself there.
