Running the race for the SVP!

On 10th May a team of 19 members, staff and friends (plus dog - a Jack Russell called Lottie!) of the SVP took part in the first of the series of the 2009 5km Do it for Charity Fun Runs in Regent’s Park, London. Fortunately the so far unpredictable summer weather was on the side of the runners – the sun was shining and the rain held off. All runners completed the run in good time, with one of the runners, Dave O’Brien from the Good Shepherd Conference, Shenley, being one of the first to finish in an impressive 4th place!

Following the event the runners enjoyed a picnic to celebrate their accomplishment, together with friends and family who had turned up to support them on the day. Congratulations to all who took part in the Fun Run and thanks go to all who sponsored the runners and supported the Society!

The London Fun Run was the first of a series of runs taking part across the country this year in which you can support the Society by participating in, either as a runner or as a sponsor of someone who will be running. If you would like further details of the runs coming up in Birmingham (13th September) and Manchester (11th October) you can download an information pack here, or alternatively if you would like to support the work of the SVP  by sponsoring a runner please contact Allison Pollock at National Office at allisonp@svp.org.uk
