“It’s still ME, Lord” - CSAN Training Days on Dementia and Spirituality announced
Over recent years there has been increasing awareness of the spiritual and pastoral needs of people with dementia and their carers. As there are now 700,000 people with dementia in the UK, we need to ensure that in recognising their dignity and rights, their spiritual needs as well as the practice of their faith are both acknowledged and met.
Caritas Social Action Network (CSAN) has commissioned a training film entitled “It’s still ME, Lord” to develop awareness of the spiritual and pastoral needs of people with dementia and their carers. The film, drawing on good practice within the Catholic community, is a useful resource for staff in care settings, but importantly, also aims to ensure that parishes are communities of understanding and welcome for those with dementia and their families.
As a follow up to the success of the DVD, CSAN is organising training days on dementia and spirituality in February and March 2010. They will take place at several locations all over England with each training day covering the same topics. To download below you will find an outline of the training day including the objectives as well as the registration form.
Ben Bano, of Telos Training Ltd and guest speaker at last year's SVP National meetings, will be the facilitator of the training days. If you are interested in his biography please have a look at the CSAN website (www.csan.org.uk).
Please contact Clara Horhan (clara.horhan@cbcew.org.uk) for registration or further information. CSAN would be pleased to receive your completed form at the latest two weeks prior to your chosen training day. The number of participants is limited to 20 per training session to facilitate maximum participation in the workshop. Therefore registrations will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.
