Invitation to Members and Friends of the Vincentian Family "in and around" London - Mass and Rally for Migrants 7th May

Dear Members of the Vincent ian Family "Vincentian Millenium Partnershipin and around" London,

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

London is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, home to migrant communities who have come to seek shelter from oppression and to improve their economic position. Many of the new migrants to our city are Catholics, and their social, pastoral and spiritual needs are made manifest in our churches and parish communities. Too often migrants living in London can experience exploitation in their workplaces. Our faith, driven by Catholic Social Teaching, demands that we stand up and speak out as one for justice.

10:00 Mass in Westminster Cathedral

Preceded by a spectacular procession of representatives from London 's diverse communities, occupations and civic organisations.
Concelebrants: Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, Archbishop of Westminster ; Kevin McDonald, Archbishop of Southwark; and Thomas McMahon, Bishop of Brentwood .
In partnership with the Ethnic Chaplains of Brentwood, Southwark, and Westminster .

The Mass will be followed by a walk to Trafalgar Square (departing 11.30) and a Rally (12.30) calling for a new deal for migrants.
