Cardiff Central visit St Benedict's Clydach and the national shrine of St Vincent

Around 40 members of Cardiff Central Council recently undertook a pilgrimage to the national shrine of St Vincent on 29th September, the closest Sunday to the feast of St Vincent .

The group, who set out by coach, minibus and car, were welcomed by the Clydach conference and midday mass was concelebrated with Canon Frank Mulvey and parish priest Father Teyrnon Williams, who preached an inspiring homily.

Before lunch the group had a tour of the church, which was recently re-ordered and has new stained glass windows which include images of St Vincent and Blessed Frederic Oznam, and the shrine itself, which also features a relic of St Vincent permanently on display.

Following lunch, which was kindly provided by the St Benedict's conference, the group enjoyed a slideshow which presented an overview of St Vincent, his works and the aims of the society.

Joe Kemble, Cardiff Central Council President, said of the trip: "It was a very uplifting day and we at Cardiff Central owe a special thank you to the brothers and sisters of the Clydach conference for their kindness and care, given in true Vincentian spirit. A day that on reflection I feel gave us all a boost in a spiritual sense and in a practical sense of the giving of our 'time, our possessions and ourselves' with joy, that we pray for."
