Calling all SVP Cyclists in 2011!

We have three cycles for you to choose from in 2011 – something for everyone!

29 May-London Cycle

On Sunday 29 May, there will be cycle routes available to suit every ability level, including 25-, 50- and 100-miles. You will start in Richmond with a route planned to follow the Thames through Walton-on-Thames, Cobham and Windsor countryside. The 25-mile route is new and focuses around Windsor, for beginner cyclists and their friends. No previous experience is required and with a bit of training these routes should easily be within your capabilities too. Registration is £20 and you only need to reach a minimum sponsorship of the distance you are cycling (i.e., £25 for 25 miles).

11 September-London to Brighton

For the first time, the SVP have the opportunity to cycle from London to Brighton. If you want an adventure (without needing a passport) this could be a perfect opportunity for you. On Sunday 11 September, you will start in South London, travel through Mitcham, Carshalton, Chipstead, Banstead, Haywards Heath and finally to Brighton, completing 54 miles! We are looking for volunteers to take part in this fantastic event. With just a small registration fee and raising the suggested minimum sponsorship, you could help to raise vital funds. No previous experience is required and with a bit of training the 54-mile route should easily be within your capabilities. The spirit of the event is 'taking part' not 'winning' so you can pedal at your own pace! With places extremely limited you should book early to avoid disappointment! 14-18 September-London to Paris

Can you imagine yourself cycling through the streets of Paris, taking in the sights and raising funds for a great cause!? If the answer is YES… we want to hear from you! We’re looking for more adventurous volunteers to cycle from London to Paris, connecting two of the world’s most exciting cities on one of the best cycling routes in Europe. This is the perfect way to explore the SVP’s routes, as the Society was founded in Paris in 1833 and the first Conference of Charity was established in England & Wales in 1844. The cycle takes place in September, so you have plenty of time to train and raise funds. Also, September is a special month for the SVP as it marks the Feast Day of St Vincent de Paul.

Cycling through beautiful English villages and into stunning rural France, you’ll pass historic landmarks and famous battlefields from World War I. Finally, you will reach Paris, undoubtedly one of the most magical places on earth. The sense of achievement you’ll experience will be one you’ll treasure forever. For those of you in search of the challenge of a lifetime please call Jessica Bray on 020 7407 4644 for a full information pack and everything you need to take part in this fantastic event.
