	40th Anniversary Pilgramage to Walsingham - 3 July 2011 Walsingham and the SVP will enjoy a very special year in 2011. For the SVP, it will be the 40th Pilgrimage to Walsingham, whilst the Shrine itself will be celebrating its 950th anniversary. It would be absolutely wonderful if as many Conferences as possible could be represented on Sunday 3 July. For those Conferences not too far from the Shrine, it would be immensely helpful if a few more priests might be encouraged to attend for the anointing of the sick, and indeed, communion, although Eucharistic Ministers can of course help with this. 	The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge - 11 June 2011 The West Yorkshire SVP invites you to take part in its sponsored “Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge” on 11 June to raise funds to support projects in West Yorkshire. The walk is a very demanding but rewarding walk. It will be lead by experienced walkers who will provide full safety support for the event, suitable water stops and insurance. Camp sites will be made available for those who wish to camp the night before and/or the night after the event. There will be a celebratory bar-b-que provided the evening of the challenge. 	Vincentian Justice Day 2011 - 5 March The next Vincentian Justice Day will be held on 5 March from 9:30 to 4 pm in Manchester at St. Augustine's Church. 	The 350 Lives project - get involved and make a difference... Following the launch of the 350th Anniversay year of jubilee commemorating the deaths of St Vincent de Paul and St Louise de Marillac the Vincentian Family Planning Group has now launched the 350 Lives project - aiming to help make a difference in the lives of 350 people over the coming year. 	'Basic Caring Communities': working with pact to help ex-offenders The SVP is now working in alliance with pact (The Prison Advice & Care Trust) to support men leaving prison. The charities have come together to develop ‘Basic Caring Communities': small groups of trained volunteers who commit to working together to offer support, fellowship, advocacy and a sense of warm human community to men leaving prison. The alliance will be officially launched on 15th November, to coincide with this year's Prisons' Sunday, and will also be marked by an event in December to be held at Westminster Cathedral. 	Join the Vincentian Family celebrating a special 350th Anniversary year of jubilee! Between 27th September 2009 and 27th September 2010 members of the Vincentian Family will be celebrating the 350th Anniversary of the deaths of its patrons, St Vincent de Paul and St Louise de Marillac. This special year of jubilee will be commemorated with a series of events and activities throughout the year and provides an opportunity to make a real difference by highlighting the plight of disadvantaged and vulnerable people in Britain today. 	3rd Vincentian Golf Day – 10th September 2010 The Vincentian golf day has now become an established event in our calendar. It is an ideal way to extend friendships and make new ones. 	Calling all Super Heroes! If you have ever wanted to get involved in a 5km run, here is your chance. On Sunday 13 th June at Regents Park, London and Sunday 26th September at Heaton Park, Manchester, over 2,000 ‘Super Heroes' are expected to take part, raising over £100,000 for charity! Members, friends and staff of the St Vincent de Paul Society have taken part in these fun runs over the past couple of years and this year we are hoping to raise even more funds than in previous years! 	“Helping rebuild troubled lives” SVP Organ & Choir Concert at Leeds Cathedral The SVP in Leeds are organising a special fundraising event on Tuesday 30th March, featuring a unique mixture of classical music from the 16th to 21st centuries. The event, which is being sponsored by Capel (C.S) Ltd, is being held on Tuesday 30th March to raise funds for joint beneficiaries the Leeds Cathedral Support Choir, and the two SVP Special Works in Leeds; St Jude’s Furniture Store and St Vincent Support Centre. 	Calling all SVP Cyclists! There are a number of cycling events taking place this summer which anyone with a bike and a bit of motivation can take part in! Not only will there be cyclists taking part in a London to Paris bike ride but there aare also a 50mile and 100 mile London bike rides taking place. 	Updated Ozanam Centre Pilgrims' Walk dates - 11th-16th October 2010 The Annual Pilgrims' Walk, due to take place mid-May has been rescheduled and will now be taking place between 11th-16th October 2010. 	Vincentian Family 350th Anniversary Mass - Liverpool April 2010 Vincentians from across the country, along with member organisations who are part of the Vincentian Family, joined together at Liverpool Cathedral on 24th April to celebrate the 350th Anniversary since the deaths of St Vincent de Paul and St Louise de Marillac. Representatives from the VMP, Daughters of Charity, St Vincent's School, the Brothers of Charity, the AIC, Depaul UK, Out There, Christopher Grange and the SVP, among others, put on an exhibition before the Mass in the crypt of the Cathedral followed by a procession into Mass. Photos from the event, which was extremely well attended by both members and friends of the Vincentian Family with around 2,000 people present, can be viewed on the following page... [29.4.10]
	Putting the Fun back into Fundraising! This summer why not help turn concern into action by raising vital funds for the work of the SVP? There are a number of events taking place across the country including 5km Super Hero Fun Runs - London (13th June) and Manchester (26th Sept), Skydives across the country, including a special jump in Maidstone (4th Sept), National Vincentian Golf Day in Stockport (10th Sept), 50 mile/100 mile Bike Rides in London (4th July) and a London to Paris Bike Ride (Various dates available). 	UK Government and Catholic Bishops welcome state visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the United Kingdom The UK Government and the Catholic Bishops’ Conferences of Scotland, England and Wales today welcomed the forthcoming visit to the United Kingdom of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. At a joint press conference, they said that the Papal Visit represents an unprecedented opportunity to strengthen ties between the UK and the Holy See on global initiatives, as well as the important role of faith in creating strong communities. 	“Remembering Romero” The 2010 Archbishop Romero Lecture Fr Thomas Greenan, a priest of Edinburgh diocese, now living and working as a missionary in the remote Petén area of Guatemala. is travelling home to Britain from Central America to give the 2010 Romero Lecture in June and July. He will speak at the Lauriston Centre in Edinburgh, St Aloysius Church in Glasgow, Liverpool Hope University, the Cathedral Hall in Leeds and at St Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square, London. 	Skydive - September 4th in Maidstone, Kent On the 4th September 2009 seven brave souls took to the skies (12,000 ft in fact!) and landed safely on their feet in the name of charity. Roy Maine, Meg Larvin, Laura Jayne, Ola Craig, Sean Taverner, Steve Whitley and Matthew Stockton met bright and early at the airfield in Maidstone, Kent. 	New International President elected During recent sessions of the Extraordinary General Assembly of the International Confederation of the Society of St Vincent de Paul. held in Salamanca, the International Confederation elected the new President General of the International Society, Michael Thio from Singapore, who received 87% of the votes. 	Feed my lambs - Statham Family Memorial information Tragedy struck recently when a family of 6 from Llandudno were killed in a five-vehicle collision. The family who were parishioners of Our Lady Star of the Sea, Llandudno had chosen “Feed my Lambs” as their favourite charity. “Feed my Lambs” provides food for starving babies in Sudan and their family and friends have requested that donations be made to the charity in their memory. 	Get ready to celebrate Silver Sunday! As Part of “Every Older Person Matters Policy” Westminster Council will be coordinating the promotion of Silver Sunday, a day in the national calendar – similar to Mothering Sunday – to celebrate older people. It is hoped that this will be a day when local councils, religious groups, charities and a wide range of community organisations and individuals will hold events for older people. [04.07.08]

	Vincentian Volunteers 2008-2009 programme now open to applicants! Looking for a gap year in the UK working with the poor? 	Ladies of Charity information video released online The Ladies of Charity (the oldest branch of our Vincentian Family) has just had a video made about their organisation. The video was made in the USA about the Ladies there but it provides a good summary of what the Ladies in Britain do too and is well worth watching, according to Catherine Stafford, President of the Salford Ladies of Charity . 	SVP Coffee Morning Raises Funds For Sudan Appeal The parishioners and SVP members of St Christopher's Conference organized a coffee morning and raised over £250 for the appeal! [02.05.07]
	New Bed & Breakfast Facility at the Ozanam Centre Four new en-suite rooms have been inaugurated at the Ozanam Centre in North Wales to support its charitable activities. [09.05.07]
	SVP Sudan Appeal Update Support for the Sudan Appeal which was launched last year has been phenomenal, with over £300,000 pledged so far over several years. The Appeal aims to give support to the people of Sudan for as long as it is needed. Already this money is saving lives but more support is needed to ensure none of the programmes has to close. 	Strangers Into Citizens Rally at Trafalgar Square Join the Vincentian Millenium Partnership for the largest ever call for Justice for migrants on Bank Holiday Monday, 7th May, 11:30am-12:30pm. A Mass for Migrants will be held at Wesminster Cathedral at 10am, and the procession will then leave from the Piazza for the walk to Trafalgar Square.
