Advent Reflection 2011

The Advent Reflections will be published weekly this year, they will be avaliable on here in advance of each week.

"Once again we are entering into the mystery of Advent; a time each year when we turn our attention to uniting ourselves with the yearning and longing of Old Testament peoples for the coming of the known yet unknown Messiah."

2nd Annual Vincentian Art Competition Concluded

The second annual Vincentian Art Competition adopted the Society’s theme for the year: Seeing Christ in our Midst.  The response was incredible. In total we received 248 individual pieces of art from all over England & Wales, from as young as 4 years old to over 60 years.  There were no limitations on medium - from pencil, to pastel, from stencil to sculpture, the assortment of imagination was spiritual and inspiring.

Mr Patrick Pike (Society of Catholic Artists) said “This is the first time I have been asked to judge this type of competition; it’s an honour. We are always looking for new talent.” Mike Worthington (National President) said “there are so many ways to interpret the theme, and this is evident in the artwork in this room.  Every piece is inspirational and each individual deserves recognition for their creative gifting. It’s incredibly difficult to choose just one winner from each age category.

Santa Run 2011

The Do it for Charity Santa runs hit the parks again this year. SVP members, friends, family and supporters united to raise funds for the SVP and start Christmas off with a Santa dressed cheer!

In London, 29 SVP members and friends pulled on their white beards and ran, jogged (or walked!) the challenging 5k or 10k course in Greenwich park. Everyone who took part received a Santa costume and an SVP goody bag (thanks to the generosity of 4imprint).

Warning! Internet fraudsters posing as SVP representatives at large!

A group of individuals are approaching members of the public fraudulently posing as UK SVP representatives.
