There is a light that will never go out...
It is with deepest regret that we announce the following death:
Jack Hodgson
St Luke's Frodsham SVP was formed in 1984. One of the founder members was Jack Hodgson who died on August 31st aged 82 at Halton Haven Hospice, Runcorn.
Jack started work on the railway and rail travel continued to be his love, going on occasional 3 day rail jaunts right up to this year. He later moved to Fords at Dagenham and was transferred to the Liverpool factory at Speke, which was like coming home as he was born in Blackburn.
He was an indefatigable worker for the SVP carrying out visits until his first bout of cancer, after which he would telephone many who could not get ablut at home. When the SVP ran the Annual Over 60s Christmas party (for 17 years) Jack purchased all that was required at bargain prices where available (2 for the price of 1 etc) and tied up all the presents. His egg sandwiches were always a treat. He also ran the Bingo sessions. At Christmas he organised the parcels for the sick in conjunction with the local surgeries.
He was married to Lillian for 57 years and they had 3 children and numerous grandchildren.
A full church at his funeral showed the affection in which he was held and the President of the Cheshire District was among the mourners.
