There is a light that will never go out...
It is with deepest regret that we announce the following death:
Edward William Hearne
Brother Bill Hearne died on the 5th June 2006, three days before his 92nd birthday. He was born in Waterford City, Eire, on the 8th June 1905, the eldest of four brothers and one sister.
He came to Rotherham, South Yorkshire, in January 1934 where he worked for Slag Reduction, rising to General Foreman when he retired in 1979. His employment was interupted by war service when he volunteered for the Royal Navy and then transferring to the Merchant Fleet.

Bill joined the SVP in 1936 at St. Bede's Conference, Rotherham, where he served as President and Treasurer for a number of years. After war service he rejoined the SVP and acted as President for Sheffield Central Council for a short time.
During his later years he was a member of The Immaculate Conception (St. Marys), Rotherham. He was a loyal and devoted member of the Society attending regular meetings until a year ago when ill health prevented him from doing so. His wife, Kathleen, died in 1991 and he is survived by two daughters and one grandaughter, who, like all who knew him, will miss him greatly. He was a true Vincentian.
