There is a light that will never go out...
It is with deepest regret that we announce the following death:
Elizabeth Mary Hapgood 1938-2007
Elizabeth was born into an Anglican family in Marlow, lived there all her life and died on 27th June 2007. She was very active in the parish life of All Saints Church. She had two brothers and one sister, all of whom married and moved abroad.
Elizabeth stayed at home to look after her parents. After their deaths, Liz was introduced to the SVP at St Peters by a fellow parishioner of All Saints, She joined and together they brought an ecumenical spirit to the Conference at St Peters .
Elizabeth became involved wholeheartedly with the SVP, firstly as Secretary and then President, while still an Anglican, a situation unheard of at the time. She then became a Catholic, then District President of SVP, later returning for a second term as president at St Peters. She was asked to read a bidding prayer at the SVP National Mass of Rededication at Westminster Cathedral. She was a true Vincentian - "very generous with her time, her possessions" and most of all "herself". Her home became "open all hours". She died of cancer in the Sue Rider Home in Nettlebed on 27th June. She will be sadly missed. May she rest in peace.
