There is a light that will never go out...
It is with deepest regret that we announce the following death:
Bro Richard (Dick) Coates
Old Swan District Council are sad to report the death of Bro Dick Coates.
Dick was a member of the Society for 64 years. He joined the SVP in his home town of Wrexham and, after moving to Liverpool , served on the Conferences of St Oswald's, St. Cuthbert's and St. Brendan's. His commitment to the Society also included 37 years as Treasurer of Old Swan District Council (Liverpool).
Brother Dick embodied all those qualities by which a dedicated Vincentian is distinguished. He was a daily visitor to the Convent of the Little Sisters Of The Poor in Liverpool, working for the residents, often at his own expense. He also worked with blind and partially-sighted people in Liverpool , providing them with tape recorders and cassettes.
In 1998, Liverpool Central Council presented Bro Coates with a special meritorious award for long service to the Society.
He will be missed by all those privileged to have known him and whose lives he touched.
