It is with deepest regret that we announce the following death:
Jack Bowker
It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Brother Jack Bowker, aged 88 years.
President of St Peter's Conference, Stalybridge, Greater Manchester, Jack was a lifelong SVP member. He was Conference President three times, and a past District President. A devout Catholic, he was a Sacrisant for many years, and guided many young priests in their first steps into the Ministry (10 priests attended his reception and requiem masses), and also young boys and girls in becoming altar servers.
He was preparing Mass when he collapsed and died in the Sacristy. For his work in the Church he had been awarded a "Bene Merenti" Medal.
Also a lifelong member of the Boy Scouts Association, he only retired ("officially") because of age, and was recognised for his long service with the "Silver Wolf". Over 400 people attended the two services at this funeral, a sign of affection for him.
His wife Ann having pre-deceased him, he leaves his son Colin, brother Bill and his wife, and sisters Maud, Maria and Frances and families. To them we offer our deepest sympathy.
