Fundraising
By holding a fundraising event, however big or small, you could raise money to support the work of the SVP as well as raising the profile of the Society.
You might think that a couple of pounds won’t make a difference. You might think that £1 buys nothing. But: there are around 10,000 members of the SVP. If every member raised just £1 from an event such as a coffee morning or a cake sale then £10,000 would be raised. This could, for example:
- Buy a van which could be used to deliver free furniture to those in need
- Buy over thirty new computers which could be used to train people and help them into employment
- Pay the salary of a part time project work supporting homeless people in a city centre
Fundraising can be fun and it is a way of bringing members of the community together. If you would like to talk to someone about organising an event please phone National Office on 020 74074644 or, for more information, download this information pack.
Some fundraising ideas from our members:
|
The children of St Veronica's Primary School, Helmshore, Rossendale raised £800 during Lent, having adopted the SVP as their Charity for this year, by each class doing different things. There are only 148 children at the school, so this was a marvellous effort and a big thank you goes to everyone involved! |
|
St Matthew's RC High School in Manchester raised a fantastic £770 through fundraising activities. The cheque was presented by school children to the SVP Christ the King Conference representative, Roy Boardman, in a ceremony in February. |

In October 2006 Preston District held a concert, supported by th Canton RFC Male Voice Choir which raised £300 as well as informing members of the public about the work of the Society. |
