Youth Development
| “Welcome all young people who want to live their faith in a practical manner by helping the poor.” Blessed Frederic Ozanam - the Society's Founder |
The activities undertaken by Youth SVP members include:
- Visiting the elderly at residential homes
- Organising play sessions for adults with special needs
- Supporting peer education at school
- Gardening for the elderly and housebound
To help the personal development of Youth SVP members there is the opportunity to attend an annual residential, Camp Vincent, as well as a variety of regional events.
Last year there were approximately 4,500 young people between the ages of 11 and 25 undertaking voluntary work with people in need in the local community as members of a Youth SVP group. These groups were based in:
- 88 Schools
- 24 Parishes
- 8 Universities
