The SVP operates 3 Soup Run services in Brighton, Central London and Clacton-on-Sea. These provide hot drinks, sandwiches, biscuits and other food, and blankets to people living on the streets. The service is not just about food provision. It is about meeting up with people and personal interaction as much as anything else.
During 2005-6, 29,240 people were assisted. The projects were supported by 216 volunteers supported the projects, committing an average of 192 voluntary hours each week. A total of 9,984 voluntary hours were spent in total supporting these soup runs over the year.
