In 2005/2006 the SVP ran 5 residential care homes for the long-term unemployed, those with mental illness and offenders on bail. These included two hostels for the homeless, two approved premises, and one residential home for residents with long term mental health issues.

  • 213 people benefited from these homes
  • The homes were supported by 39 full-time and 40 part-time staff
  • The occupancy rate for the year was 99%

Supported housing for men.

Supported accomodation for people with mental health problems or learning difficulties. Offers life skills, support with finance and budgetting, education, recreational & work opportunities, emergencey 24 hour support.

Home Office Approved Premises

The SVP runs two approved hostels for men in the Northumbria area.

St Christopher's Approved Premises

Provides accommodation for people on bail and those released on parole or licence. Provides daily meals, construtive activities and key work sessions.

Ozanam House Approved Presmises

Ozanam House became an Approved Hostel in the 1970s, housing men only who are subject to a statutory order within the Criminal Justice System. Support is offered for things such as substance abuse, literacy and finance management. Focuses on facilitating the transition to independent living or a move to supported housing.
