Bath & Bath Spa University

Where we are....

We are based in the Catholic Chaplaincy at Bath University and the university Chaplain, Fr Bill McCloughlin, is the Spiritual adviser. We run a number of activities in the local community in Bath:

What we do...

  • Visits to Smallcombe residential home, just down the road from the University. We normally do this on Sundays after Mass. This is a simple activity. A carol singing service was organised in December and another sing-along before the Easter break, all of which brought smiles and cheer to the residents, as well as sharing a few snacks!!
  • Visits to Julian House homeless shelter, helping to prepare, cook and serve meals to clients in the evenings and make them feel welcome.
  • Faith and Light. 3rd Monday evening of month. Participating in prayer, songs, bible readings in a relaxed setting with people who have learning difficulties/disabilities and sharing food and drinks with them.
  • Christmas Shoebox Appeal, in conjunction with the University of Bath Student's Union Volunteering Centre - putting together some shoe-boxes filled with toys and personal gifts and sending them off to families in need overseas.

Although these are our core activities, all members are encouraged to suggest new activities which they feel may benefit themselves, and those they serve. These can be carried out individually, or as a group, and then reported back to others in the group at campus Mass the following Sunday.
